Mark R. Hunter is an author, firefighter, humorist, dad, and self-proclaimed home maintenance failure from northeast Indiana. His weekly humor column "Slightly off the Mark" appeared in three newspapers for over twenty years, which is coincidentally the age of his first grey hair, before being unceremoniously cut short in 2014. This volume collects his previously unpublished and “leftover”columns.

Slightly off the Mark The Unpublished Columns Mark R Hunter Emily J Hunter 9781508989417 Books Reviews
This book is a delight from start to finish. It had me smiling many times and laughing out loud on a few occasions. The author's laid back, ironic delivery and wide variety of topics means he hits the mark far more often than the title suggests.
I just finished reading this delightful and funny book. I have long been a fan of Mark R Hunter's humor and was excited to find that he's combined many of his editorials into a single book. I liken his biting humor to Mark Twain, and I wasn't disappointed in this book.
The book is made up of separate and short humorous columns, so it was a quick and fun read. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially if you enjoy good humor.
Could not put this book down! I got it today, read half of it then had to get stuff done. Got right back to it and finished it! Fastest I've ever read a book, I think. So many stories full of funny, crazy antics (some from real life situations), the puns....I can't say enough good things about this one! Kudos to you Mark and Emily Hunter!!
With columns on everything from politics to the weather (one of my own favorite topics), this book was chock full o' laughs. I was crying with laughter within minutes of opening this book, and I elicited strange looks from my family as I continued reading.
At 190 pages, it was a quick read, and I finished it within a day. I've been in a bit of a funk lately, and this was just what I needed to cheer me up. So if you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend it.
Slightly Off the Mark is a collection of unpublished humor columns written by Mark Hunter for the newspaper - that is until he was labeled 'redundant'. However, these columns are anything BUT redundant. With a variety of topics from writing to household injuries, to storm chasing, higher learning, and the mystery of Ohio's predilection for flight, there is something for everyone within the pages of this collection, and a chuckle on every page. Mark's wit, humor, and ability to make the mundane (and even the horrific - a prostate exam!) hilarious makes you eager to turn the digital pages. You can sit down and enjoy this gem in an afternoon (as some reviewers have done), or enjoy an article or two a day (like I did.) No matter your preference, you're bound to find giggles, guffaws, and laughs galore. Here's hoping there's a Slightly Off the Mark 2!
